#37 Lake Nakuru & Lake Elementaita
Just next to Nakuru, Kenya’s forth biggest city, stretches Lake Nakuru National Park. Although a rather small conservation area, it boasts one of the highest animal densities and diversities. Sensational flamingo assemblies that visit its alkaline waters and 450 plus other bird species have earned it worldwide fame not only with ornithologists. In fact, the park has far more to offer as it is a sanctuary for endangered black and white rhino, as well as the Rothschild's giraffe. Forests of fever tree and candelabra euphorbia contribute to its special flair as do the surrounding Rift Valley, Menengai crater and Lake Elementeita, a smaller sister lake which is also a flamingo haven bordering a private game sanctuary. So whether you want to go hiking, set out for a classic safari or chase the birding experience – the Nakuru Treasure will create unforgettable memories.
