#32 Wajir

Located in the scarcely populated northeast of Kenya, Wajir is wild and vast and beautiful but not easy to travel. The hampered infrastructure and security situation have seen only very few travelers who were privileged enough to visit the historical site of the Wagalla Massacre, former British bunkers or the Wajir Museum, which offers an insight into the rich cultural, historical and natural heritage of the region which is mostly inhabited by Somalis. Yahut dam, Shaletey wells and Orpahey wells as well as Bangal forest constitute some of the unknown natural attractions of Wajir which are worth visiting. This is just another side of Kenya, different from the beautiful sandy beaches and glorious wildlife, but worth exploring – would you dare?
